So to me this episode is kind of hilarious given that it was the early 90's and grunge was what was becoming cool and kids wanted to rebel against the clean cut goody two shoes establishment image.Revealed: What the Princess of Wales said to Prince William moments before tapping his behind on the BAFTA red carpet It wasn't until about 10 years later where people started getting a lot more health conscious and you started seeing smoking sections going away in restaurants in favor of the entire restaurants being non smoking.

Even Carrie on Sex & The City was a smoker years later. What's even funnier to me is that most of the cast of Beverly Hills 90210 including Jason Priestly, Luke Perry, and Shannon Doherty were *smokers*! And even back then it was kind of glamorized as you had Sharon Stone in "Basic Instinct" as they made smoking a big part of her character. In light of that I kind of laugh when I see Kelly Taylor telling Branda how uncool it is to smoke and how Dylan hates smoking. Smoking is now out of style as I know a lot of the "cool people" from my college and high school days and now they have kids and have all given up smoking. I always thought it was gross but everybody else seemed to think it was cool when I was in high school and college and I went to an affluent high school. btw: I was one of the not cool kids that smoked. You'd go to parties and there would be tons of hot girls smoking.

It was like that when I got into college also.

All the cheerleaders at my high school smoked. First of all I was in high school back in the 90's and I'm pretty sure now that smoking is looked down upon in high school and if you smoke today you are perceived as being gross but when I was in high school the people that smoked cigarettes were seen as the cool people. Just got done editing The Back Story episode of Beverly Hills 90210.
